Transforming Enterprise Data Strategy for Truist

Transforming Enterprise Data Strategy for Truist

Situation

Truist Financial Corporation’s Divisional Chief Information Officer faced significant challenges in gaining operational visibility across 11 separate business teams while struggling to demonstrate strategic value to executive leadership. The organization needed comprehensive insights into four critical business functions: Agile Delivery performance, Application Stability metrics, Resource HR & Financial data, and Risk Management indicators that could effectively measure team performance and inform strategic decision-making. The current state relied on highly manual, non-structured reporting processes using Excel and PowerPoint presentations that depended heavily on contextual interpretation and could not be delivered consistently or in a timely manner. This fragmented approach prevented the DCIO from accessing the quantifiable data insights necessary for both day-to-day operational management and strategic C-Suite reporting.

Our Solution

Thought Logic partnered with the DCIO and key strategic leaders across multiple enterprise functions to implement a comprehensive multi-year digital transformation employing advanced data strategy, reporting, governance, and product management solutions. Our multi-workstream approach included developing data visualization, governance, and enterprise scalability frameworks. We conducted stakeholder interviews with the DCIO and 11 delivery managers to document current state reporting gaps, then developed an integrated strategy to link and govern key data elements between four data sources, enabling consistent metric comparison between teams. Using Alteryx for data ingestion and transformation from systems of record, we built an interactive Delivery Dashboard in Tableau with multiple analysis and filtering capabilities. Additionally, we developed automated tools for data quality management and engaged team members in governance processes, while creating a long-term AWS-based strategy for enterprise-wide solution scaling.
