Situation
General Mills’ finance organization ran on an aging Hyperion environment—a 20+ year-old platform burdened with poor user adoption, inefficient maintenance, and time-consuming quarterly updates. The system handled mission-critical reporting obligations, including statutory, SOX, SEC (10Q/10K), and management reporting. Still, processes had migrated outside the platform and were being managed through SharePoint with manual data loads from three separate systems. A report management crisis compounded the problem: 600+ reports had accumulated that were difficult to support, maintain, or enhance. The existing environment couldn’t keep pace with the organization’s complexity, and General Mills needed a modern, unified platform to consolidate its full finance function—from close to planning to regulatory reporting—into a single, trustworthy source of data.
Our Solution
Thought Logic partnered with General Mills’ business, finance, accounting, and digital technology teams to replace five legacy Hyperion instances with OneStream — establishing a modern platform supporting 300+ global users with integrated workflows that eliminated SharePoint workarounds. The engagement began with an Enterprise Data Advisory phase to accelerate roadmap definition and maximize ROI before implementation began. Thought Logic unified all statutory, SOX, and SEC reporting and transformed 600+ legacy reports into maintainable, guided reports within the platform. Direct integrations with Workiva were established to enable automated drill-back to transaction detail, and admin tasks, consolidations, certifications, and reporting were brought into a single comprehensive workflow. Global training and change management were delivered throughout to drive adoption at scale across the organization
